Today, we had the honor of receiving H.E. Mr. Jean-Christophe Ochier, French Consul General, at the House of Coexistence (HOC) in Sinjar. He was welcomed by a distinguished group of representatives from Yazidi civil society, including:
- Mr. Hasan Saleh, Director of Sinjar Education
- Shakir Malhem and Nawaf Hussein (representing the Shingal Council)
- Khidr Kali (representing the Sinuni Social Council)
- Zaid Al-Sheikh Haji (Al-Alfiya Yazidi Development Organization)
- Sufian Qolo (Youth Bridge Organization)
- Sami Khadida (Sinjar Open Dialogue Platform)
- Rana Balo and Nahida Nawaf (House of Coexistence)
The meeting discussed key issues concerning the Yazidi community, particularly regarding international support and France’s role in helping Sinjar across multiple areas:
- Strengthening local community unity and civil society
- Infrastructure development
- Ensuring justice through prosecution of foreign and French ISIS members
- Support for education and psychosocial services
- Addressing challenges to stability, including hate speech
H.E. Mr. Ochier reaffirmed France’s steadfast commitment as a friendly and cooperative partner to Iraq in all areas of coordination and support for post-conflict recovery, giving special attention to Sinjar due to the tragedies it has endured.
