The House of Coexistence organized a visit by the UNDP Iraq Program Officer to Lalish Temple to explore Yazidi history and culture. A joint meeting was held at the temple with His Holiness Baba Jawish, the Nadia Initiative, and the Sinjar Open Dialogue Platform to discuss regional challenges and ways to strengthen the UN’s role in reconstruction and stabilization in Sinjar.
The delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on service needs across various sectors and emphasized the importance of continued support from UN institutions for the Yazidis in Sinjar, including infrastructure, education, agriculture, combating desertification and climate change, youth programs, and assisting displaced persons to facilitate voluntary return.
