Over the past two days, House of Coexistence (HOC) conducted its fourth specialized training for community leaders, mukhtars, and youth and women leaders in Sinjar.
The program covered effective engagement with state institutions, administrative issues related to the mukhtar’s work, the mukhtar’s role in judicial oversight, and their legal rights and duties in serving their communities. Participants also received training in advocacy skills for addressing community issues.
This initiative was organized in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Civil Peace Service (CPS) Program, as part of ongoing efforts to empower social and civic actors in Sinjar, strengthen their leadership in community and local issues, and enable local leaders—both tribal and youth—to work effectively with administrative and governmental authorities for the benefit of residents.
