Humanitarian Solidarity Statement with the People of Aleppo
We, the people of Sinjar district and Yazidi civil, cultural, and human rights institutions and organizations, express our full and unconditional solidarity with civilian families in Syria, especially Yazidi families stranded there, particularly in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, amid escalating events that threaten the lives of innocent religious and ethnic minorities.
The lives of thousands of civilians are in real danger today, and they may become victims of conflicts they have no part in. The Yazidi people in Syria, along with all minority communities, are peaceful people seeking to live in safety, away from violence, conflicts, and wars.
Based on our humanitarian and ethical responsibility, we call on the international community—especially the United States, European Union countries, the Arab League, neighboring states (Iraq and Turkey), humanitarian organizations, human rights bodies, and all influential actors—to urgently intervene to:
- Protect innocent civilians in Syria, particularly in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.
- Ensure the safety of Yazidi families and all religious and ethnic minorities.
- Prevent any violations or threats to their right to life and safe living.
We also call on the United Nations and the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to involve all concerned international parties in order to stop the ongoing conflict, find a lasting peaceful solution for our brothers in the Syrian people, and end the bloodshed affecting vulnerable minority communities.
We reaffirm our commitment to the highest humanitarian values and call on all parties to the conflict to adhere to international laws, norms, and human rights principles, working together to save lives and defend the rights of the innocent.
