The First Winner of Special Mention 2025: is Activist Samir Shukr Faris:
He is one of the prominent individuals who lived through the tragedy of the genocide; his family was among those captured by ISIS. Most of them have since survived and rebuilt their lives. Samir did not stop at the suffering of his own family — instead, he turned his experience into a motivation to help others. He volunteered and worked as an activist and humanitarian worker with several organizations. He played a significant role in rescuing many survivors through his field efforts and his continuous communication with the relevant authorities. He also contributed to providing extensive services to the community, whether by supporting affected families, participating in humanitarian initiatives, or offering social support to survivors. We are proud of your work, and are honored to announce you as one of the recipients of Special Mention of the Sinjar Human Rights Award 2025
