On December 18, 2025, and as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild trust and strengthen social cohesion in Sinjar, the Peace Committees in Sinjar, in collaboration with House of Coexistence, implemented a community-led initiative to rehabilitate Al-Qadisiyah Park, transforming it into a safe, shared public space for all components of the Sinjar community.
This initiative aims to promote peaceful coexistence, encourage positive social interaction, and support the reintegration of returnees by creating an inclusive green space where families, youth, elders, and diverse community groups can meet, connect, and participate in shared activities. The initiative also brings together interfaith dialogue and environmental action, highlighting the role of public spaces in fostering unity, dignity, and peace.
By restoring shared spaces, communities in Sinjar are rebuilding social ties, strengthening mutual understanding, and laying the foundations for sustainable peace.
This initiative is part of the “Building Peace and Stability in Iraq” program, which is implemented by the House of Coexistence (HoC) in partnership with the IRC and funded by UKAID.
