Position Summary:
HOC is seeking an experienced Senior Programme Advisor for Peacebuilding to provide strategic and technical leadership for its peacebuilding programmes in Sinjar. The successful candidate will strengthen institutional capacity, mentor local peace actors and structures, support programme development, and contribute to sustainable peace and reconciliation initiatives in close cooperation with local and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice on peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and social cohesion programmes.
- Support programme design, implementation, monitoring, and learning.
- Mentor staff, Peace Ambassadors, and local community initiatives.
- Strengthen institutional capacities through coaching and technical guidance.
- Coordinate with GIZ Civil Peace Service (CPS) and other stakeholders.
- Ensure programme quality, conflict sensitivity, and gender-responsive approaches.
- Represent HOC in relevant coordination meetings and partnerships.
- Conduct regular field visits and facilitate workshops, trainings, and dialogue sessions.
- Supervise the HOC media & social media peace programs and campaigns.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Peacebuilding, Human Rights, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field, with at least 3-year project leadership experiences; or bachelor’s degree in the mentioned fields with at least 7 years of senior experience in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, or transitional justice.
- Demonstrated experience in programme management, research, reporting and institutional capacity development.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Experience working in conflict-affected environments.
- Good understanding of Iraq’s social and political context, particularly Nineveh and Sinjar.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic and Kurmanji are strong assets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
