House of Coexistence (HOC) organized a training session for members of the Natural Resources Committee to strengthen their understanding of environmental challenges associated with climate change and develop their skills in addressing its impacts. The training aimed to support their role in protecting natural resources and promoting environmental sustainability at the local level.
The training explored the key environmental impacts of climate change on natural resources and livelihoods, with a focus on adaptation mechanisms that can help mitigate these impacts and strengthen the resilience of local communities. It also introduced the concept of environmental advocacy and its importance in promoting community participation and influencing relevant policies and decisions.
The sessions further addressed the role of the Natural Resources Committee in leading environmental initiatives, raising awareness, and strengthening coordination with relevant stakeholders to respond more effectively to environmental challenges.
This session was conducted as part of the Building Peace and Stability in Iraq (BPSI) program, implemented by House of Coexistence (HOC) in partnership with Un Ponte Per (UPP), with support from the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO/UKAID).
