Today, we had the honor of welcoming Her Excellency Isabelle Rome, the French Ambassador for Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Minister for Equality and Diversity in the French Government, along with Mr. Christophe Augé, the French Consul General. The visit aimed to review the latest developments and the current situation in Sinjar.
The meeting covered the following topics:
- Discussion on the issue of kidnapped Yazidi women in Syria, challenges related to women’s health, and the amendment of the Survivors’ Law and its potential risks to the Yazidi community.
- The administrative conflict over Sinjar, the return of displaced persons, the General Amnesty Law, and the topic of compensations.
- The environmental situation, particularly the critical water shortage in Sinjar and its impact on the local population.
- Educational issues, including Sinjar University and the challenges faced by educational staff due to school shortages.
- The importance of digital media and youth development in this sector, its role in amplifying young voices, and the positive role France can play in coordination with the Iraqi government in these areas.
Her Excellency also planted a tree in the public garden, symbolizing commitment to the community and environment.
