Today, a distinguished group of stakeholders from various areas of Sinjar and Nineveh gathered to support a shared vision for strengthening climate resilience.
This initiative is led by the Natural Resources Management Committee at House of Coexistence (HoC), in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and funded by UKAID as part of the Building Peace and Stability in Iraq project.
Key government institutions participated in the discussions, including the Nineveh Provincial Council, Municipalities, Water Resources, Agriculture, Education, Health, and Environment directorates, ensuring alignment between community needs and government plans related to environment and services.
Local community representation was strong, with youth, women, civil society organizations, and community leaders from Sinjar and Sinuni contributing valuable insights reflecting their daily realities.
Through focused dialogues, discussion sessions, and joint working groups, participants successfully identified key priorities, developed practical recommendations, and adopted a joint roadmap for environmental action and climate adaptation, culminating in a signed Memorandum of Understanding to be implemented by the relevant government authorities.
