The House of Coexistence (HOC) held a community dialogue session on Sunday, March 8, 2026, to review the results and outcomes of two advocacy sessions previously organized by the organization regarding transitional justice pathways and the Sinjar file.
The session followed up on the outcomes of the Baghdad meeting that took place last November and was hosted by the National Security Advisory – Center of Excellence, with the participation of representatives of the three Iraqi presidencies, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labor and Migration, the Martyrs Foundation, and the Nineveh Provincial Council. Representatives from the British Embassy and the International Rescue Committee also attended.
The discussion also addressed the outcomes of the Erbil meeting held last February in cooperation with the General Authority for Kurdistani Areas Outside the Administration of the Kurdistan Region. The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs, the Criminal Evidence Authority, and the Mass Graves Directorate, in addition to representatives of victims, tribal leaders, and civil society organizations.
During the dialogue, participants highlighted several key challenges facing the region during this sensitive phase and emphasized the importance of strengthening joint efforts to address them. Attendees also presented a set of recommendations and proposals to support community advocacy at the level of Nineveh Governorate.
Discussions particularly focused on several urgent service-related issues in the sub-district of Sinuni, including the Sinuni Hospital project—where the foundation stone has yet to be laid—along with challenges in the education sector, municipal services, and the rehabilitation of roads at the entrance to the sub-district.
At the conclusion of the session, participants stressed the importance of continuing follow-up and joint coordination on these issues in cooperation with tribal and community leaders, activist groups, civil society organizations, and the House of Coexistence, in order to support stability and improve public services in the area.
