About the House of Coexistence (HOC):
The House of Co-Existence (HOC) is a multicultural community center in Sinjar, dedicated to promoting peace, human rights, social cohesion, and an ecological peace system, with a focus on empowering youth and women in post-conflict areas. Founded by 2019 Aurora Prize Laureate Mirza Dinnayi, HOC operates as an independent, non-profit NGO under Iraqi Law No. 12/2010. HOC is a leading civil society initiative in Iraq, hosting international guests and diplomatic delegations. It provides a safe, inclusive space for cultural, educational, legal, and psychosocial support and serves as a platform for collaboration between local and international organizations.
Position Overview:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the field-level coordination and daily management of HOC’s agriculture and environmental resilience project in Sinjar. The project focuses on establishing a plant nursery, developing local fruit tree production, and supporting vulnerable farmers with climate-resilient inputs, training, and mentorship, with priority for women and youth.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Coordinator will oversee activity implementation, stakeholder engagement, logistics, and reporting across all project outputs. The role requires close coordination with HOC’s agriculture team, the Directorate of Agriculture, community stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation
- Oversee daily activities including greenhouse construction, nursery operations, farmer training, input distribution, and mentorship coordination.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of agricultural staff and field trainers.
- Support Value Chain Assessment and ensure transparent and inclusive beneficiary selection with the Directorate of Agriculture.
- Plan and supervise logistics for training sessions, mentorship visits, and farmer support packages.
- Ensure inclusive participation of women, youth, returnees, and vulnerable groups.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of attendance sheets, distribution records, and activity reports.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to track indicators, monitor progress, and prepare monthly summaries.
- Collect field feedback to adapt training content and support mechanisms.
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the main point of communication with the Directorate of Agriculture, local leaders, and stakeholders.
- Represent HOC in coordination meetings, workshops, and public events.
- Support documentation for external evaluations, monitoring visits, and donor visibility activities.
Administrative & Logistical Support
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics staff to forecast and follow up on materials and services.
- Ensure project records are properly filed and archived in compliance with internal and donor policies.
- Prepare internal reports and contribute to financial and narrative reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, Project Management, or related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years in coordinating community-based or agriculture-related projects.
- Proven experience working with local authorities and community structures.
- Experience with UN or donor-funded projects (e.g., UNDP, GIZ, IOM) is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong coordination, planning, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with project management tools is a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, post-conflict environment.
Languages:
- Fluent in Arabic (required), Kurdish strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of English is an asset.
